Over 1,400 nonprofits and social enterprises participated in the Classy Awards process this year.
September 28, 2021 — Today, Project C.U.R.E., the world’s largest supplier of donated medical supplies and equipment to resource-limited countries, was named the 2021 Classy Award Winner in the People’s Choice category. Hosted by Classy, a giving experience platform that enables nonprofits to connect supporters with the causes they care about, the Classy Awards honor today’s most innovative nonprofit organizations and social enterprises. Now in its eighth year, the Classy Awards is one of the largest social impact awards in the country.
The People’s Choice Award was chosen by the public as the most innovative program of 2021 from the list of 50 Classy Awards Finalists. Project C.U.R.E. was chosen for its extensive history of excellence in delivering life-saving medical equipment and supplies to hospitals and clinics throughout the under-resourced world. Moreover, Project C.U.R.E. was recognized for providing domestic relief to hospitals, clinics and first responders throughout the United States during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. Since March 2020, Project C.U.R.E. has delivered over 540 COVID-19 relief shipments, including 18,000 boxes of PPE to first responders in over 575 U.S. facilities.
“The Classy Awards began in 2009 to shine a spotlight on outstanding programs run by social impact organizations around the world,” said Pat Walsh, Classy co-founder. “Each and every day we are humbled by the hard work and tenacity of our nonprofit customers, and the Classy Awards serve as our way to honor the sector we serve. Congratulations to Project C.U.R.E., who joins a prestigious group of 2021 Classy Award Winners who are embracing new ideas and solving today’s toughest challenges.”

“On behalf of Project C.U.R.E., we are humbled and honored to be selected as a 2021 Classy Award Winner,” said Dr. Douglas Jackson, President and CEO of Project C.U.R.E. “I am so proud of our team for pivoting their focus last year to meet the tremendous need for PPE and equipment to fight COVID-19 here in the U.S. Since the start of the pandemic, Project C.U.R.E. has provided over $3.5 million in domestic aid, to date. That’s roughly 15 semi-truck loads of gloves, gowns, masks and even items like ventilators. None of this would have been possible without our incredible team of over 5,000 individuals who in the face of the pandemic, showed up every week to sort supplies, box goods, and ship the containers. They share with us in today’s honor.”
Project C.U.R.E. will be recognized formally at a special celebration in-person during the Classy Collaborative conference in June 2022. To learn more about Project C.U.R.E., please visit www.projectcure.org. For more information on the Classy Awards, visit www.awards.classy.org.
About Project C.U.R.E.
Project C.U.R.E. was founded in 1987 to address the staggering shortage of medical resources around the world. Since our humble beginnings in a garage in Colorado, Project C.U.R.E. has become the world’s largest distributor of donated medical supplies, equipment and services to doctors and nurses serving the sick and dying in more than 135 countries. Each week Project C.U.R.E. delivers approximately three to five semitruck-sized ocean containers packed with the medical equipment and supplies desperately needed to save lives in hospitals and clinics in resource-limited countries. Project C.U.R.E. is supported by over 30,000 volunteers annually and operates distribution warehouses in seven U.S. cities. In addition to our global work, Project C.U.R.E. pivoted in response to the COVID-19 pandemic to support the need for PPE and medical equipment in the U.S. Since March 2020, Project C.U.R.E. provided more than 15 semitruck loads of medical aid, which equates to 4.5+ million pieces and nearly $5 million of PPE for healthcare workers and first responders.
